  Approximately how many JW have left permanently?

  i did try a search before posting this question and found nothing current.

  pew research -2016 says approximately two thirds of those born into the religion in the united states alone, no longer consider themselves as members.

  (sorry, still don't know how to link, but it's an easy google search.).

  Yes. There are two here my wife and I that will never go back. If there is over 100,000 congregation and only 2 left permanently that is at lease 200,000. Still Totally ADD

  What part of the country do you live? I ask that because I live in SW NY. I served as a elder for 25 years, 3 years as a P.O.. I am a born-in and I have been out since Jan. of 2011.   Lords Witnesses - JW splinter group - latest predictions

  amongst the many jw splinter groups , the "lords witnesses" are amongst the more interesting / amusing / depressing ( delete as applicable ).

  the de-facto leader , gordon ritchie , was quite a well known jw in the uk in the past.

  there was an amusing article in the times about him a few years ago ( https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/the-end-of-the-world-is-nigh-its-name-is-gordon-g3qxf8w5fn9 ) firewall / free to subscribe.

  What have been some of the funniest local needs talks that you have heard?

  i remember once in berlin south germany there was a local needs part for the men only, and how they should use the toilet.

  in all seriousness for ten minutes a retarded nigerian was going on about how men need to sit down when using the toilet.

  no mention of anything else.. it transpired that some little kraut boy from an "interested" family would aim for the side of the toilet and leave a great big puddle for others to clean up.

  All these local needs talks help me remember one we had. Where I lived in FL most of the brothers work in the construction trade. Somehow the visiting CO did not like how we dressed to go to work. Which was blue jeans T shirts and construction boots. He said in his talk we need to dress in business looking clothes. Clean slacks and shirt's. He did not mention ties. LOL. As Christians we need to look clean and neat at all times. All of us brothers just looked at each other like he was out of his mind. This is FL were it is 94 degrees with humidity in the upper 80's. All you do is sweat. It was impossible to stay clean. I would change my T shirt to a dry one 3 times a day because it was soak and wet with sweat. Hell has nothing over a FL summer. I guess he thought we built houses under glass domes that was air conditioned. Just shows how controlling the cult tries to be. Still Totally ADD

  An honest question for those who were "born-in"

  just wanted to ask a question of those who were born in as i was.. how did you feel to have been "privileged to have been born into the only true faith - the truth"?.

  did this make you feel confident, or proud - or perhaps arrogant?.

  how did you reconcile the fact that 99% of the earth's population was not born "into the truth"?.

  Q. #1. No! My first 4years in school I had very hateful teachers. They would go out of their way to ridicule me in front of the whole class. First two years the teacher would not even let me sit with the class. My desk was behind the teachers desk. A lot of physical and emotional abuse by those teachers. It made me hate school. Never did I feel privileged to be a cult member.

  Q.#2. No! It made me feel weak and scared.

  Q.#3. Because of what I went through I was hoping for the death of all those bad people.

  Q.#4. As a very abused child I never thought about it. I was at the time 100% cult. I knew nothing else.

  Saying hello for first time

  i have been sneakily looking at this forum, almost every day, ever since it began!

  it has taken me till now to actually register and contribute.

  (actually i did register with a different name in the beginning but never commented).. i am a pimo elder with a fairly long history of senior "positions" in the organization.

  Welcome Pimojw from a former elder. I was a elder for 25 years and I truly understand what you are going through. I can only say it will take time for you to think things out. I remember the day I fully woke up. I was the P.O. and at that time I could only grin and bare it. So I made up my mind to do all the research I could and slowly work my way out of the mess I was in. The path you are on will take you in many directions it is up to you to pick what's right for you. It took a lot of courage on your part to come on this board and that is what it will take to get out of this cult. Take care of yourself and good luck to you and your wife. Still Totally ADD

  Award Shows and Entertainment---Do You Want To Hear Political Views During A Show?

  if i watch a ball game or an awards show or some other type of entertainment, i really don't care about politics.

  i enjoy politics but there's a time and there is a place.. i think it's getting out of hand and it's getting pretty boring...but that's just my humble opinion..

  Didn't any of you ever heard of the Smoother Brothers? Big on TV in the late 60's. Then President Nixson forced them off the air because he did not like what they was saying about him. All through history comedy has been used to expose bad things the rulers where doing. I did not watch the show or any reward shows for that matter but there is nothing new here. Still Totally ADD

  The Golden rule (Matt 7:12) - Do JW's apply it?

  there is no doubt (in my mind at least from my own personal experience) that in day to day matters most witnesses are genuinely loving and kind (or "nice") people (though their indoctrination and fundamentalist mentality often inhibits their natural kindness and tolerance and often gets in the way of fulling showing it).

  however i would like to put the case that when it comes to their ministry and theological/scientific discussion of any type, they fail to apply even the most basic of bible principles that they claim to espouse - the golden rule!

  here is what occurred to me.... some things jw's would like men to do to them:.

  As a born-in I do not remember ever hearing any talks or studies on the Golden rule. When I would hear the words Golden rule by householders or my work mates I did not know what they was really talking about. Those words was very foreign to me. All I thought was everyone who was not a JW was going to die at Armageddon. Very sad that I could not make that connection. Golden rule is not something the Borg talks much about. Still Totally ADD

  Former Elder insights on recent Child Abuse Cases & changes in the Org

  this former elder, was briefly featured on pbs segment about child abuse among jehovah's witnesses.

  in this youtube interview, he is asked about some of his experiences in the org from 1971 to the present.. at about 16:10 he starts telling his story about his involvement with trey bundy, and how he got to know jonathan kendrick, from the candace conti case.. for some reason, this video is starting 15 minutes in, and i can't get the link to start at zero.... you can always rewind ;-).
